Working with SilkCentral Test Manager

With Borland’s ALM Server platform and ALM URIs, elements such as issues and test definitions can be traced across SilkCentral Issue Manager and SilkCentral Test Manager repositories. For example, test definitions in a remote Test Manager repository can be associated with issues in a local  Issue Manager repository.

Note See SilkCentral Test Manager help for details on using Test Manager to associate issues with test definitions. Issues cannot be associated with test definitions from within Issue Manager.

Test Manager integration

See the SilkCentral Repositories and Configuring the Test Manager Location in Issue Manager topics in SilkCentral Administration Module help for details on configuring traceability of test definitions and issues across Test Manager and Issue Manager repositories.

See the Managing SilkCentral Issue Manager Issue Tracking Profiles topic in SilkCentral Administration Module help for details on configuring Test Manager for use with an external Issue Manager repository.

Viewing associated test definitions

Procedure To open a Test Manager test definition that is associated with an issue in Issue Manager:

1    Navigate to Issue Tracking / Tracking.

2    Select an issue (if the issue you want is not visible, select the inbox that the issue resides in from the Inbox list box).

3    Select the Traceability tab in the lower pane. All Test Manager test definitions that have this issue assigned to them are listed on this tab.

Note If you have not logged into Test Manager in the current session already, you will be prompted to log into Test Manager at this time.

Note Test definitions within inactive Test Manager projects, or within Test Manager projects that the submitted user has no access rights to, are not displayed.

4    Click a test definition’s Element Name link to open that test definition in Test Manager.
