User accounts have a number of properties, which are specified on the User Account page (Configuration/User Accounts).
Note Before you can view or edit Issue Manager-specific account properties, you must create a user account in SilkCentral’s Administration module (Administration/Users/Accounts). See the SilkCentral Administration Guide for detailed information about creating and managing user accounts.
Required, unique login name for a user, a maximum of 30 characters. Special characters are not allowed.
Note Existing account fields cannot be edited in Issue Manager. Use the SilkCentral Administration module to edit user account settings.
Inbox
Select a default inbox for this user from the list of previously defined inboxes. Users can have more than one inbox or have no default inbox at all, but only one can be made the default inbox. For the significance of the default inbox assignment, see “Viewing default and other inboxes”.
Group
(required) the group to which this user belongs. When you select a group from the drop-down list box, Issue Manager automatically assigns the group’s default values for initial issue states and group security settings for this account.
The initial issue state is the first state assigned to a bug, enhancement, or documentation issue when it is submitted by this user. The default values are the group defaults, which are the values assigned to this user’s group. To see the defaults for a given group, open Groups (Configuration/Groups).
You might want to change the default initial issue states for a given account, if, for example, a user has a higher level of technical competence. Say that within a group of non-technical managers, one manager is decidedly technical. You might want to have this user’s issues enter Issue Manager further along in the workflow.
Security privileges define which tasks this user can perform. The default security privileges for this user are those of his or her group. If you want to give additional privileges to a user, select the appropriate check boxes in the User Account Security dialog, shown here. Note that the default privileges are read-only.
To assign additional privileges to a user, select the appropriate check boxes. The following table describes each privilege.
