Notes on Lifecycle Definitions

  1. Generally Available (GA)
    1. -Product is available for general purchase.
    2. -Telephone & Web Support provided.
    3. -SLA for expected responsiveness to reported issues (depending on the level of support purchased, e.g. Silver, Gold, Platinum).
    4. -Regularly scheduled fix packs and WrapPacks (rolled up fix packs).
    5. -Hot fixes as required.
  2. Sundown
    1. -Products in this state are fully supported and customers can run in production with confidence.
    2. -Hot fixes, Fix packs and WrapPacks are still produced.
    3. -No longer sold to new customers if a newer release is available, but existing customers can order additional end-user licenses.
  3. Critical Maintenance
    1. -Support is limited to specific deployment configurations that are agreed in advance.
    2. -Eligible for showstopper fixes (severity 1) only.
  4. Extended Care
    1. -Option 1: Standard Silver Care contract for sundowned products - advice and avoidance.
    2. -Option 2: Bespoke contract that is created for each customer, which may include showstopper fixes.
    3. -No New Sales. No Additional sales to existing customers without special dispensation.

Notes on Platform Support

  1. Platform support - for components of a platform (e.g. Operating System, Compiler or JDK) that are no longer supported by its vendor, Micro Focus will provide patches to work around issues, but will not be able to initiate fixes to the components nor will it be able to access expertise from those vendors to assist in diagnosing problems.
