2.3 Local Processing of Remote Files

In addition to using local files, AcuODBC can also access files that reside on a different computer from the front-end application, such as a UNIX or Windows server. These files are then processed locally. In this situation, AcuServer(TM) file server software provides remote file access services.

AcuServer is available for most UNIX and Windows NT (Intel) machines. It can serve COBOL applications running on UNIX and Windows TCP/IP based networks. You must have a TCP/IP networking client installed on the client machine and a licensed copy of AcuServer installed on the server.
